Macro mania!

Macro photography is an addiction like no other genre of photography. There is so much unseen, unknown world of insects that each image you take just fascinates you! Here are macro images shot by me.(I am not at all an entomologist, so ids of some insects or the terms while describing them may be wrong, if you have a correct information please comment on the post with image number.)

1.Damsel fly with a kill of silver orb spider. Though smaller than dragonflies, damsel flies are also efficient killers!

2.Jumping spider (family salticidae) are killing machines in spider world! They are fast, accurate and equipped with great sense of vision.

3.Long legged fly: Looks much like a (very colorful) mosquito in first glance, but as the name suggests they are Bachhans of their world!

4.Dragonflies have got superbly efficient body design made for only one thing-hunting! The design is so successful that it has very few changes in the course of evolution. Here is a close p of compound eyes of dragonfly.

5. Damsel flies are always vibrantly colored with bright hues of blue, orange green etc. Here is a close up eye shot of orange colored damselfly.

6. Another member of jumping spiders.

7. Close up eye shot of assassin bug. It has a shield like carapace beautifully designed with dotted engravings.

8.Notorious biters! wasps are one of the most painful biters in insect world. Here you can see why!

9. Another jumper.

10.Jumping spider with a fly (out of focus, orange colored thing in its forelimbs) Unfortunately before I can take another image with the fly in focus it jumped right onto my lens!

11. The protector
.

12. Salticidae member once again.

13.Tetragnatha viridorufa..long jawed spider.

14.Praying mantis close up
